Budapest from the River Danube by night

The majestic floodlit buildings of Budapest are seen from a river cruise ship on the Danube. This was the first night on our “Contrasts of the Danube” river cruise going from Budapest in Hungary, to the Danube Delta. We pass the Parliament Building, the Chain Bridge, the Erzsebet (Elizabeth) Bridge and the Gresham Palace and St. Stephens Basilica.

Budapest is often called the Pearl of the Danube or the Paris of East. The Danube River runs right through the center of Budapest, dividing the city into two parts: Buda and Pest. Since the city links western and eastern Europe, Budapest has long had an intriguing history. River ships sailing the Danube always stopover in Budapest for the day and often wait until after dark to sail away since the city lights on the river are truly memorable.
