Nuffield Place in Oxfordshire

Nuffield Place in Oxfordshire, England was the home of William Morris, founder of the Morris Motor Company and at one time Britain’s richest self-made man. The National Trust property has been perfectly preserved as a 1930s “time capsule” since the industrialist’s death in 1963. Despite his great wealth, Lord Nuffield remained personally frugal and in later life devoted his energies to the philanthropy that made him a household name. The Nuffield Foundation was founded in 1943 with a gift of £10m-worth of shares in his company.
